Disappear- poetry video

Posted: September 20, 2016 in Uncategorized

This is my newest video for my poem ‘Disappear’. The poem was sparked by the view from my bedroom window one icy December midnight, and the yearning for adventure this invoked in me. I couldn’t find a view as magically urban, gritty and beautiful as the one that inspired this piece, and the only record I have of it is, in fact, this poem, so I shot a shaky sequence of footage from the midnight bus home last night of the city lights of beautiful Dublin from the  ramp onto the M50.

Disappear is the concluding third of the Midnight Trilogy from my first poetry collection Barbed-Wire Cage.

Electric Picnic 2016!

Posted: September 6, 2016 in Uncategorized

Saturday September 3rd saw my return to Electric Picnic, but this time, I was on the bill! I had a thirty-minute slot on the Earth Spirit stage at Body & Soul as part of The Circle Sessions, and I can’t possibly convey what it meant to me to have my name advertised on an Electric Picnic line-up! I performed some punk-poetry, spoken word and a monologue in the yurt (punk-poetry: Red Rover, The Ballad of Christopher Robin, Gatecrashing- spoken word: Parked, Did’Ya- monologue:The Carnival), and I was beyond delighted with how the set went! I was honoured to be on the line-up with some incredible acts I’m privileged to know, and even more honoured to be named one of the acts in the “three-part series of strong female characters” along with poet Clara Rose Thornton and rapper Temper-Mental MissElayneous (see photo below!).

Thanks to David & the Circle Sessions for having me on the line-up, to Yvonne and Earth Spirit for having the Circle Sessions, and to everyone who came along to support! What an honour to be on the bill at Electric Picnic, and I am already buzzing for next year!

Thanks to the wonderful The CO Club for having me as a feature on Friday night! I had so much fun performing for the amazing and receptive audience, and was honoured to share the stage with the amazingly talented line-up of Pine The Pilcrow, Robert Ardiff and Rory Clarke.
